Why name it Faint?

Because the most beautiful flavors in a cup of coffee are often the subtlest. A faint note of bergamot, a delicate hint of blueberry. We built this app to capture those fleeting moments before the cup is empty.

Why build an app just for coffee?

General-purpose trackers water down the experience. Dialing in a perfect espresso or crafting a morning pour-over requires specific variables. By focusing 100% on coffee, Faint acts as a dedicated tool for the craft, not just a generic notepad.

What is Faint, and what's a tasting card?

A tasting card is the small card a specialty café or roaster hands you with your cup: origin and farm, altitude, variety, process, roast level and the flavor notes the roaster tastes — "mango, milk chocolate, pomegranate". Faint turns each one into a digital card in a private vault on your phone, with the roaster's details on the front and your rating, notes, photos and origin map on the back.

What's free, and what does Pro add?

Adding cards by hand, ratings, photos, origin maps, sharing and the private vault are free. Manual entry means you type the roaster, origin, process and notes yourself — about a minute per card. The scanner reads the paper card with your camera and fills the fields for you: three scans are included to try it, and Faint Pro unlocks the full scanner. Short video clips are coming in an upcoming update.

Where is my data stored, and how does sharing work?

On your phone. Faint is local-first: no account, no sign-up, no cloud sync. The only way a card leaves the device is when you tap Share, which renders it as a clean image you can post to Instagram, Threads or TikTok.

Does one Pro subscription cover iPhone and Android, and how do I cancel?

Subscribe on the web and you get a one-time link by email; open it on any phone with Faint installed and Pro turns on. Cancel from the manage link in your receipt email. Subscriptions bought inside the App Store or Google Play stay with that store and are cancelled from its subscription settings. Your cards stay in the vault either way.

What's an indie developer, and why should I care?

An indie developer is one person, or a tiny team, building an app without a company behind it — no investors, no ad network, no data to sell. That is why Faint can stay private and local-first: the only way it earns anything is when people who like it pay for it. Faint is built by one person who reads every message. The best way to support the work is a Pro subscription — it keeps the scanner running and funds every feature that comes next. Sharing a card or telling a coffee friend helps too.

Your vault, always private.

Local-first storage, no account, no cloud. Add cards by hand for free, try the scanner with 3 free scans, and go Pro when you want more.
